When Rigby & Peller got back in touch with us, we were delighted. Our previous project at the Grand Arcade in Cambridge had been a great success, and we were pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with their team once again.

Following the rollout of a new store and furniture design concept in Holland, the Guildford store was selected as the first UK location to showcase the exciting new look. We were successful in our tender for the complete strip-out and refurbishment of the store.

To fully understand and accurately replicate the new concept, we visited the Lincherie branded outlets in Woerden and Alkmaar. This allowed us to experience the design first-hand and collaborate directly with the Dutch store fitters and furniture makers, Harmeling.

Our scope of works included a full survey of the existing unit, production of architectural drawings (based on Graziosi Progetti’s 3D designs), and submission of Building Regulations and Planning applications. Due to the age of the building and the relatively compact footprint, particularly within the back-of-house areas, the survey identified several layout adjustments that were required. These revisions were implemented swiftly to ensure long-lead furniture items could be ordered accurately and on schedule.

We worked closely with Harmeling and the Rigby & Peller UK team to meticulously plan the refurbishment, ensuring the Guildford store mirrored the Dutch concept as closely as possible. Given the small footprint and pedestrianised high street location, careful coordination was required with neighbouring tenants and the Local Authority. We successfully secured a hoarding licence to facilitate necessary extra space for safe storage of strip-out materials between wait-and-load collections.

Our on-site and project management teams delivered a high-quality fit-out, on budget and within a demanding programme, ensuring the store was ready for the all-important Black Friday trading period. The finished space reflects the premium Rigby & Peller brand and the attention to detail synonymous with it. We are grateful for their continued trust in us and look forward to supporting the rollout of future design concepts across the UK.
